My 1999 Porsche 986 Boxster

I finally broke down and bought a new (used) car... after months of online research via CarFax and eBay Motors I finally found a deal too good to pass up - and bonus, it was local.  My shiny new convertible toy has all the bells and whistles, a long list of extras and originally sold for over $66K in 1999.  Luxury, performance and handling... I am now the proud owner of a sweet little sports car.

I test drove a crappy used 2000 Chrysler LHS and also a shaky braking PT Cruiser before I got disgusted with walking around dealerships, came to my senses and decided to take things online.  I thank NPR radio for directing me towards one, they said an 80's Porsche could be had for $5K to $10K and that started me looking.

I have the original window sticker showing the paint as Polar Silver and costing extra, I at first thought it was Arctic Silver which was a standard color offering at no additional, but for whatever reason the cars first owner wanted to be different and that's just fine by me.

The car has a retractable wing that comes out when the car hits 75+MPH, it's the line between the tail lights.  The roll bars behind the seats are normally painted flat black, but again to be different they were painted the exterior Polar Silver color.

There is a wind deflection package - being two mesh inserts inside of and a clear acrylic window in between the roll bars, another extra.  The car also has an oval exhaust that is shown on the sticker as being an exclusive extra.

The black bag in the picture below is for holding the clear acrylic wind stop when not in use, to the right of it is the luggage mesh for those without a rear speaker box and a rear deck lid Boxster emblem I bought but will likely never install.

EVERYTHING is leather (multiple extras), every part of the car that Porsche offered in leather is covered.  There are front and side air bags, fully adjustable heated leather seats, IR theft protection, traction control, cruise control, digital sound package and on and on... if you look closely you can see the brushed stainless steel 'Boxster' door sill running up the left edge of the picture below.

Below is a close up of the Porsche crest that is embossed into both of the leather seats head rests... yep, another extra.

Another couple extras are the aluminum dash instrument panel and Metropol blue leather Porsche 911 steering wheel...

The following picture shows the Porsche crest on the hood and also gives a truer view of the Polar Silver color (which has a light bluish tint), it looks really sweet in person.

The Metropol Blue convertible top is in great shape and raises and lowers automatically with the push of a button.

Here's another look at the convertible top from behind the car...

This next shot shows the drivers side air intake, the car is a rear wheel drive five speed and the engine sits directly behind the seats.

The 18" rims and tires are another package that was originally added vs. the standard 16" five spoke version, they fill the tire wells a lot better and really look sharp.

The rear trunk is spotless clean...

The front trunk is the same way...

Here is a top down view inside the front trunk.  Clockwise from the top left is the owners manual, the amp for the radio, a 12V cigarette lighter jumper cable, the tool kit and spare.

I have read online that things like the owners manuals are often lost and seldom included with a used P-car, surprisingly enough the radio code card is even here too.

The tool kit is another thing that is normally missing from a used Porsche, thankfully there was an almost complete set included with the car, the only tool I had to buy was the tow-eye.

Below is the original window sticker and something that is a true rarity for a used Porsche... all three sets of keys.  This is the all around nicest car I've ever owned and I absolutely love it, but it wasn't long before I started modifying and personalizing it.

The Porsche Boxster is hands down my new favorite thing, it is a fast and unbelievably fun car to drive... I smile every time I think of it.  The following is from the above window sticker...
