My 1999 Porsche 986 Boxster... Mods & Ends.

The very first modification I made happened on the second day owning my favorite new thing.  I decided to vinyl dye over both of the tacky red, yellow and white 'airbag killing a baby' visor warning labels because with the top down they looked awful.

The picture below shows both freshly vinyl dyed visors, they look a lot nicer without the airbag warnings.

The red clip was my second find, it's a small piece of plastic that presses the top latch button making the car think that the top is up, that way when the alarm is armed the IR will also operate with the top down... sweet.

I like that the 'Boxster' emblem is removed from the trunk lid, nothing against the logo or emblem it just looks cleaner without it.  I bought a black Porsche logo license plate frame since there's no other rear branding, also because it looked like it needed one.

I bought new floor mats in Metropol Blue, the pair that came with the car were dirty and mismatched... what a difference new mats make, they really brighten things up and make the whole interior look new.

The dead pedal that came with the car was cracked up and broken so I ordered a new one and replaced it.

Then I bought a set of aluminum pedals off eBay and installed them instead.

The car has spin locks already installed, normally there is a factory installed plug.  I'm curious about this one because the spin locks are only installed on cars with the optional hardtop or speed humps.

I found a listing for a 1999 Boxster hardtop on Craigslist, it's the wrong color of silver (Arctic) and there were two parts missing when I got it, but the price was just too good to pass up.  I replaced both of the missing parts, but for now I'm holding off on getting it painted.

The hardtop has just been sitting in my shed so I built a cool little stand for it out of two pieces of flat board, four little wheels and some pipe foam insulation... it works great, the hardtop now takes up a lot less space and can be moved around really easily.

Here are a few cool videos I found...
